Labor Day in Buffalo, circa 1900

Check out the crowd on Main Street in Buffalo!

This was the city’s Labor Day celebration. This was the year 1900, or thereabouts.

  1. The mass of humanity on the street sparks the viewer’s interest in this photo. A more careful perusal reveals other objects of interest, particularly the huge American Flags atop 7 tall buildings on and just off Buffalo’s “Main St.” The young man on the building’s ledge in the left foreground causes wonder and contemplation . . . who is he and why is he not on the street?
