It’s time for a good vintage hat post. We haven’t talked about them in a while!
Personally, I can rarely pull off hats in the way I wish I could, like a character in Casablanca. But I wish hats would make a big-time comeback. I love them.
In the 1910s, ladies’ hats were in their heyday. I must say, this wasn’t the most welcome trend for moviegoers.
But this was a small price to pay for the glorious age of the hat!
How do you like this lady’s hat? I’m guessing because of the way she is dressed that she was a widow.

Now, I’m not going to pretend all hats are equal…

Of the hats covered in this post, this one is undoubtedly my favorite. This woman knew how to wear a hat!

How did a woman ever keep a hat in place walking the streets of a city like Chicago, “The Windy City?”

Have you ever seen the hatpins ladies used to wear? They were lethal little accessories, and doubled as weapons to fight off “mashers”

I have seen them, and you are correct about the being lethal. I suspect TSA would confiscate one of those pins if you tried to take it onto a flight in 2025.

I suspect you’re right! Last Christmas my cousin gave me a cast iron frying pan and I wasn’t allowed to bring it on the plane. 😂
