A Blend of Humor, Authenticity, and Glass Plate Photography

One of my goals is to visit all 50 states in the union. To say that I’ve “visited” means I’ve stayed at least overnight—and it can’t be in an airport. So far, I’ve visited 27 states. I’ve never been to Connecticut but the postcards I have to share with you today are effective advertisements. It’s a state I’m looking forward to visiting someday!

This fun collection of photos is from the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.

First, meet Mr. Frank H. DeMars. He was a photographer and the owner of an art store in Winsted, Connecticut.  And DeMars was funny!

DeMars, who was born in 1872,  made many beautiful images, but I want to share a certain subset with you. These are the postcards DeMars created from his glass plates, with a few amusing comments.
