Fryeburg is a small town in Maine. It sits on the border of New Hampshire, on the banks of the Saco River and within view of the rugged White Mountains. Its 2020 population was 3,369.

Fryeburg was founded before the American Revolution in 1762 and named in honor of Colonel Joseph Frye. Its earliest residents were veterans of the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763). Fryeburg Academy, where Daniel Webster once taught, was founded there in 1792 and still operating today.

This picture was taken in Fryeburg in 1895 by American photographer William B. Post, who spent nearly two decades photographing rural areas of Maine. He called this picture Summer Days.
