Poised at the Edge of Destiny

A man gazes at Lower Spokane Falls in Washington state, around 1930.

This dramatic photo looks like a visual for a Gram Parsons song that went like this:

Now when I feel
My time is almost up
And destiny is in my right hand

I wonder what this man was thinking. Maybe he was making a momentous decision, or struggling with a betrayal. A detective wrestling with a cold case. A man who had reached a sudden, unexpected fork in his path.

Then again, perhaps he only believed he was poised at the edge of destiny, and later realized his life was unchanged.
