For 50 years, Mick Jagger has been one of the most famous people in the world. And for half a century, people have tried to imitate his look. It’s not easy: Sir Mick has a distinctive appearance.

That’s why, at first, I thought this guy was the Rolling Stones frontman. But this photo was taken in 1907, when Mick Jagger was no more than 5 or 6 years old (kidding!).

The model was Nicholas Giancola. The image was captured by photographer F. Holland Day, and he called the portrait Youth in winged hat and robe.

What could account for this uncanny resemblance? Could Nicholas be Jagger’s great-grandfather? Probably not, since Mick is English and Giancola is obviously an Italian name.

If the man in the picture isn’t Mick and it’s not a relative, Day must have photographed Jagger’s doppelgänger!

The photograph of Giancola was acquired by the Library of Congress as an anonymous gift in 1934.
