This is one of America’s first supermodels, Audrey Munson.

Audrey is immortalized in many sculptures and paintings in various museums, parks, and public buildings. She poses here in a publicity photo for the silent movie Purity (1916).

I just learned of Audrey the other day. She had a strange, scandalous life.

I may write more about her later but in the meantime, here’s one example of a sculpture she modeled for, as the Star Maiden for the “Colonnade of Stars,” Court of the Universe building, at the Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco.
