Happy Christmas Eve everybody!
Like many of you, I’m traveling during the holidays but I have some posts, including this one, cued up to publish. I might be slower at times but I’ll be checking in too!
I’ve always traveled during the holidays and, if you have too, you know it’s different from traveling at any other time of the year.
I found two very different pictures of holiday-related travel, taken a few decades apart.
The first picture is of some sailors home on shore leave for Christmas. No grumpy travelers here!
The other picture is of two ladies visiting Chattanooga, Tennessee to do Christmas shopping for their sons who were serving overseas. The bus route traveling through Memphis and Louisville, but the ladies’ destination is unclear. The photographer didn’t give their names but noted they were farm women. Looks like they were successful in their shopping mission!
Their photo is so interesting! Their dresses remind me of the ones my grandma used to wear. I never saw her wear anything other than a dress. I asked her once on a bitterly cold day why she didn’t wear pants to keep warm. She looked a little bit shocked and said, “My generation would think it was out of place if I wore pants. Wouldn’t your friends find it out of place if you wore a dress like mine?” .Made sense to me!
