Musical accompaniment: Rhapsody by Sergei Rachmaninoff
I took a class some time ago on the history of photography and this beautiful shot by Edward Steichen was one of the featured pictures. I’d forgotten about the class and finding the materials today gave me a sensation similar to the one you get when you put on an old jacket and find $20 you left in the pocket last time you wore it.
Steichen made this autochrome picture in 1904. He called it Moonrise — Mamaroneck, New York.
It seems to capture the strange, mystical energy in the air tonight.
