Happy Couples in California

I’ve been neglecting Old Spirituals! I’ve been engrossed so engrossed in my fourth book, I’ve let everything else slip. I’m so excited about it! It’s definitely the best story I’ve gotten to write about. I try hard with my writing but I’ll tell you, I’d rather be an okay writer with a great story than a great writer with an okay story. I’ll share more about the book soon, but I’ll tell you now it’s a true story from the early 1900s, and it covers four major crimes committed by different people in a city in Tennessee. Some were guilty, at least one was almost certainly innocent but as a result of being accused, the lives of these men became linked together. Stay tuned!

I’ve got a great post for you today. I found a few photos of early twentieth century couples in California. Hope you enjoy!

This photo shows Lee Hill and his wife, Anna, about 1905. They were residents of Porterville, CA. (Photo courtesy of Porterville Library)

Okay, this last one isn’t technically a couple… just a couple of cute kids. Joe and Santa DeMara, who I assume are brother and sister.
