Perdita

A gem from the Library of Congress.

The name Perdita comes from the Latin perditus, meaning “lost” or “abandoned.”

What is your impression of this young woman?

Perdita. Young woman, standing, 3/4 lgth. Created / Published c1902.(LOC)

  1. The photo seems “revealing” considering it was taken in 1902 when woman dressed modestly. The style of the time covered the body from the neck to the floor, with long sleeves covering the arms. The corset was still in popular use in 1902. It wan’t until much later in the Century that a woman’s dress became more simplified. In that historic context, the name “Perdita” has much more meaning.

  2. Kimberly, This week’s Savannah Reporter has a long story about the Halloween night cross bow murder of Randy Crawford that happened 25 years ago. It was a convoluted deal with a love triangle, jealousy, a slow, mentally challenged minion, Halloween costumed killers, crossbow, pistol, a thermos of gasoline, a cross country getaway and capture …… and the love triangle babe that rats out the killers for a reduced sentence………………… Right up your alley !  Jeff Esely
