Name that Feeling

This photograph was taken in 1903 by William Henry Jackson. The photographer took the unusual step of naming the picture.

Photographer: William Henry Jackson (LOC)

The title of photograph is the feeling the girl in the photo is supposedly displaying.

I’ll post the answer tomorrow. Anyone want to take a guess today in the comments?

  1. The word “despair” actually came to mind before I read the comments. Heartbroken or jilted might be more modern terms, but “despair” sounds more1903 for a title. It had to be a letter from someone she loves since she’s holding it to her heart.
