  1. Autochrome photography is fascinating from both a technological and an artistic standpoint. Autochrome photography used a glass plate coated with colored starch grains to capture color. The result is very different from digital photos produced by today’s cell phones, with their clarity and vivid colors. Autochrome photos have a more subtle depiction of the subject. I find autochrome photos very appealing for many reasons, not least of all the history of the subject captured. This gallery of autochrome photos documents history:
