An Interesting Face

This Lydia Leslie Lydie, circa 1900. From Archive.org, owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She has such an interesting face. How would you describe her to someone who couldn’t see this photograph?

The photographer was Frank Eugene, a photographer who was born in New York but spent most of his life in Germany. Eugene was an important figure in avant-garde photography and photographic education.
