I have great admiration for the troubled and talented Ernest Hemingway as a writer. I’ve found it hard to like him personally ever since I read a biography about him called A Life Without Consequences.

He was often cruel and selfish to his friends and even the people who loved him most. Maybe his personality was warped as a result of his love affair with Agnes von Kurowsky, the Red Cross nurse he met during the Great War. That would be the most romantic explanation!

Whatever else Hemingway was or was not, he was certainly very handsome as a young man when he lived in Paris… wouldn’t you say?
