New Short Story about the Romanovs and Rasputin is on Kindle Vella!

Hi everyone! I’m very excited to tell you I have a new short story on Kindle Vella called The Romanovs, Rasputin, & the Collapse of a 300-year Dynasty.

I’m hoping Vella will help me reach more people who might like my books. Depending on how this story does, I may add more stories soon.

How does Vella Work?

I’m just learning about Vella. In case you aren’t familiar with it either, here’s what I’ve learned: the platform is specifically for short stories and each story is divided into episodes (similar to chapters in a book) of 600 – 1400 words. Episodes are released one at a time.

You can read the first 2 or 3 episodes of any story on Vella for free. If you want to keep reading episodes of that story, you pay a few tokens per episode. You can buy 100 tokens for a dollar. At the time I’m writing this, the first 500 tokens are free.

My story has 9 episodes and the first 3 episodes are free. If my math is right, it costs about 60 tokens to read the whole story. The first episode is available now and the second one comes out Friday. New episodes are released every Tuesday and Friday until the full story is available.

The story: The Romanovs, Rasputin, & the Collapse of a 300-year Dynasty

The story of the Russian royal family and Grigory Rasputin, the mad monk from Siberia, is one of the strangest and most fascinating stories of the twentieth century.

The Romanov dynasty came crashing down in 1917. Tsar Nicholas and his wife Alexandra were born to privilege. He was the heir to the Russian throne. She was Queen Victoria’s granddaughter. They had five beautiful children, a glamorous life, and everything money could buy. How did their story become one of the most shocking tragedies in modern history? Some contend it was the tsar’s weakness, but the loudest voices accuse Rasputin, the sinister monk who had a powerful hold over the family.

Once you click the link in this post, it will take you to the story’s main page on Kindle Vella. If you’d like to help me get the word out, here are a few things you can do to help boost the story in Amazon’s algorithm so it reaches more people. Any and all of these things are really helpful:

  • You’ll see an option to Follow Story so you get notified when a new episode comes out.
  • When you scroll down, there’s a link to take you to each episode.
  • At the end of the episode page, you can give a thumbs up.
  • You can also leave a comment.
