This is Mr. Amos Holloman, who was a career robber, with a record spanning at least 34 years (1910-1944).
Holloman spent most of his life behind bars, plotting how to get out from behind bars, and being recaptured. In between, he was quite a prolific robber. The amount of time he did suggests he was not a particularly talented robber.
I was only able to find his mugshots from Nebraska but he did quite a bit of robbing in Oklahoma, Montana, Missouri, and Iowa, so no doubt there are more floating around out there!

There are several reasons for recidivism. Mr. Holloman childhood perhaps can offer why he has an “impulsive, self-defeating behavior.” ”The Great Depression” (1929 – 1939) and the lack of employment opportunities may have influenced Mr. Holloman’s behavior.

I kinda feel bad for this guy. The fact this guy kept going back to robbery when he was so unsuccessful seems like he didn’t have any skills to support himself.

It does seem as if he had no other options. Poor fellow wasn’t very good at the path he’d chosen. It does make one wonder about his childhood. Maybe he had no family or friends to help him.
