Leapt Before Looking (Suspect #1)

I’ve embarked on a creative project to promote Has it Come to This? The Mysterious Unsolved Murder of Frank Richardson.

The book is about the unsolved murder of a merchant in Savannah, Missouri who was murdered on Christmas Eve 1900 in his home. Frank Richardson had a lot of enemies but the police quickly zeroed in on three suspects. It’s a great book to give as a present for anyone who likes American history or true crime or mysteries.

I had an idea to promote the book by creating three ads: one to profile each of the main suspects. I have to tell you all, this is one of those times I maybe should have thought twice. I totally underestimated how hard it is to make an ad.  It probably wouldn’t be that hard if I knew what I was doing but making videos has me swimming in deep, dark, and unfamiliar water. But I decided to do it and I’ve got one-and-a-half done!

The saving grace is that I have some very talented friends who agreed to be my narrators, playing the roles of the suspects. The first video profiles Stewart Fife, the handsome young clerk who the victim hated and had even physically attacked.  Stewart is played by my extraordinary friend Chris Kessler, who you’ll see did a terrific job channeling his subject!

Please consider sharing on your social media and help me get the word out about the book! Stay tuned for the next video coming soon!

Think you can solve one of history’s most baffling murders?

    • Thank you! I don’t achieve more than others but it’s up to me to promote my books now since leaving my publisher. Not being a social media person, I look for creative ways to get the word out!

        • I’m right there with you! There’s a lot of data that the more people are on social media the less happy they are. I’ve also seen it transform the personalities of more than one person that I love and it’s awful. I wouldn’t describe YouTube social media exactly.
