In 1890, a photographer named J.E. Bacon took three photographs of an elderly gentleman named Gabriel Vittoria.

Known familiarly as “Old Gabriel,” he was said to be 151 years old. Gabriel was a Native American man who was born in Tulare County, California. During his lifetime, he converted to Christianity and helped build missions.
