In Ep. 5: You Can’t Repent if You Haven’t Sinned, St. Petersburg boils with rage as Rasputin gains more influence over the Romanov royal family. Russian aristocrats believe the sinister monk is a threat to their country. They denounce Rasputin and report his outrageous behavior and wickedness to Tsar Nicholas and his devoutly religious wife. To their shock and alarm, the tsar and tsarina shrug off their warnings and cling to the Siberian monk. It seemed nothing could touch Rasputin until someone took violent action.
