Contest Guidelines:
I thought this might be an interesting different kind of contest we could try on Old Spirituals, at least as an experiment. The songs in this playlist represent diverse styles ranging from vaudeville, ragtime, blues, folk, and more.
- Listen to the songs in the playlist in this post.
- Tell me in the comments: which song is the best and why?
- If this is your first comment, there will be a brief delay until I approve it. Don’t worry, though, your entry will appear.
- I’ll select the best comment on Sunday to win a free audiobook version of Grievous Deeds.
- I’m influenced by your feedback! If you like someone else’s choice/rationale, comment or give it a thumbs up.

Perhaps in Paris, Ruby? Or old New York?

I really like Ruby’s pick and her reason behind the choice is wonderful! I love “Love is the Sweetest Thing” but for a different reason. This song by Al Bowlly is played In the background of Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile” when the murderous young lovers are dying. It’s one of my favorite versions of the movie with David Suchet. Leave it to the Brits to add such a special touch!

I love that movie, Judy! The Agatha Christie movies always do have wonderful music…and cars…and clothes!
