  1. Lovely photo. The photographer captured the man on the front porch and the grandeur of a traditional home of the late 19th and early 20th Century.

    Homes of that era typically had “corbels” that were either simple or ornate. The two-tier front porch in this home in the photo appears to have simple corbels at the top of the posts. What is not simple, and something different, is the ornate carved-wood “Bargeboard” (it may have a different name due to its placement) above the large window on the side of the house.

    Where have all the American craftsmen gone?

    • I love this, Jax. I don’t know anything about these details but I love the old craftsman homes… they are beautiful and solid! Many homes today are cookie cutter, soulless affairs
