Journey to Venice

The holidays aren’t over but occasionally people feel a little overloaded on the Christmas celebrations. If you’re longing to experience something not holiday related, this post is for you!

An exotic trip to Venice is in the stars.

This 1908 photograph was entitled The bridge, Venice and made by

Alvin Langdon Coburn. It has a mysterious feeling to it. Who do you suppose the man on the bridge is? I’m going to guess he’s a priest, summoned to someone’s sickbed to hear a confession.

This photograph of the god Bacchus was taken by Gertrude Käsebier in August 1905.

  1. Venice is an intriguing city, steeped in amazing history . . . a fantastic vacation location. That notwithstanding, living in a city that requires water transportation to commute among its 126 islands is not my idea of day-to-day, carefree living. Lest we not forget the 400+ bridges that link the city’s islands. Sorry for being pragmatic.

    • That’s funny and true! I once got to live in Venice for three months. I had an internship at a museum there. I don’t think I realized what a wonderful experience it was at the time but I often think of it now and what a strange and beautiful life it was.
