I have to tell you, I’m so excited about this episode of Mugshot March!

Special guest and top narrator Samuel Burst and I delve into the case of James B. Mathiason, counterfeiter, Folsom Prison inmate, and potential romantic hero. Along the way we discuss mustache cups and Sam makes a legally binding agreement. Could anything be better?

What if there was a musical montage, with the great Mississippi John Hurt, of past Mugshot March luminaries? It sounds too good to be true, I know, but check it out for yourself!
i got the grievous deeds audiobook and i like samuel’s voice a lot. i like the videos! thank you for bringing the music back

at the end where you show the pictures, I didn’t recognize the first guy. am I forgetting or did you cover him?

Yes! That’s Herman Isaacs. He was a “knock out man”

I saw the contempt on the left side of his face also. I would assume James started out young stealing and never got caught. He may have met “like” criminal minded individuals in the service and escalated his crimes. Many fine families have these problem children.

that’s an interesting idea, Judy! It’s hard to think where he made a wrong turn but he couldn’t possibly have thought that was a long term great idea. He’s lucky he pulled it off once let alone a few times
