Tatiana Romanov’s Doppelgänger

Musical Accompaniment: Why can’t He be You? by Patsy Cline.

I found another doppelgänger to add to our list.

I’ve often written about the last imperial Russian family, the Romanovs. There’s something endlessly fascinating and touching about them.

From left to right: Olga, Maria, Tsar Nicholas, Empress Alexandra, Anastasia, Alexei, and Tatiana.

The Romanov family

This is Mrs. Harrower and her baby in Montreal in 1891. As soon as I saw her, I thought how much she looks like Tatiana Romanov. So much so that I wonder if perhaps she could’ve been a relation?

I think it’s her eyes that make her resemble the Grand Duchess Tatiana.

Tatiana Romanov was Tsar Nicholas’ second child. She was born in June 1897 so she was significantly younger than Mrs. Harrower.

Of all the Romanov children, Tatiana had the most unique features.  I’ve read that the Russian people thought she looked more like a classical Russian beauty than her sisters, whose features were more European. She certainly was a beautiful girl.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
