Two Photographs from Old San Francisco

In 1896, Arnold Genthe captured this photograph of a man and a boy walking down a sidewalk in Chinatown in San Francisco.

Looking at photos of Chinatown without traffic gives me the same eerie feeling I have when looking at photos of the south before kudzu!

The following year, 1897, a group of people posed near the second Cliff House and Seal Rocks. The magnificent  second Cliff House was finished in 1896 and lasted just eleven years before being devoured by flames in 1907.
